Robert Ramirez, DO, FACP

Dr. Robert Ramirez is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology, specializing in thoracic and neuroendocrine malignancies. His clinical and research focus includes neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) and lung cancers, with particular expertise in pulmonary NETs ranging from diffuse idiopathic pulmonary neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia (DIPNECH) and typical/atypical carcinoids to small cell lung cancer and other high-grade neuroendocrine carcinomas.
Dr. Ramirez is actively involved in clinical trial development, including investigator-initiated studies aimed at advancing treatment options for patients with these rare and complex cancers. Prior to his current role at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, he served as the lead medical oncologist for the New Orleans Louisiana Neuroendocrine Tumor Specialists (NOLANETS), where he spent nearly a decade focused on the care of NET patients and NET-specific research.
A passionate educator, Dr. Ramirez frequently lectures to fellows, residents, and peers in the scientific community on the evolving landscape of thoracic oncology and neuroendocrine tumor management.
