Dear Colleagues and Friends,

NANETS is in full gear as we ramp up to the 2021 Multidisciplinary NET Medical Symposium, November 4-6 in Chicago. While we all hope to be together, leaders are carefully monitoring the pandemic. I encourage our members and their greater NET medical communities to register for the Symposium. NANETS will honor the registration for either an in-person or a virtual medical symposium should we need to pivot this fall.

In addition to federal guidelines, NANETS will follow the recommendations of the Chicago Department of Health. Should cases continue to increase, NANETS may require proof of vaccination, a negative covid test, and/or masks to be worn by participants. Please continue to visit NANETS' website and watch your email for the latest information about requirements for this year's NET Medical Symposium.

Leaders of the Diversity and Membership Committee moderated a roundtable discussion with Allied Health Professionals and Advanced Practice Providers in July to discuss how NANETS can better serve this community. (Continue reading for further information on this exchange.) As part of that discussion, NANETS is offering a 50 percent Symposium registration discount to its Advanced Practice, Allied and Affiliated Health Providers in an effort to ensure these communities are able to fully participate in this important medical conference. (See full details below.)

The deadline for accepting nominations to fill vacancies on NANETS' Board of Directors was August 16. There are three open seats for the 2021-23 term. Please watch your email for the announcement of this year's candidates, as well as an email from ElectionBuddy with your ballot.

This year, NANETS received a number of highly relevant and scientifically compelling research grant proposals, which have been carefully evaluated by our Scientific Review & Research Committee. Recipients have been notified. I would like to thank everyone who submitted a proposal and encourage all of you to continue pursuing your research. If your proposal was not selected this year, please consider applying again next year!

The Scientific Review & Research Committee continues its review of abstract submissions for oral and poster presentations for this year's Symposium. Over 110 submissions were received! Notifications of acceptance will be sent on or about September 3, and authors will have until September 10 to confirm their oral/poster presentations.

Wednesday, August 18, NANETS and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) will co-host a webinar entitled "Radioligand Therapy and Treatment Sequencing for Metastatic and Unresectable Pheochromocytomas and Paragangliomas." As always, thank you for your tireless commitment to NANETS, NET-related research and clinical care. Stay safe and healthy, and be sure to take time to enjoy your summer.
Sincerely,
Emily K. Bergsland, MD
