Regional Conference Attendees Support World NET Cancer Day

World NET Cancer Day is an internationally-recognized event held annually on November 10th. This year, NANETS Regional Conference in New Orleans took place on the same day, and attendees participated in numerous ways.

Dr. James Howe Elected Chair of NANETS

A Note from Dr. James Howe, Chair of NANETS

Dear NANETS Colleagues and Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to write, having recently returned from a very successful NANETS Annual Symposium. Over the course of three days, more than 450 physicians, researchers and allied health care providers from throughout North America and around the world convened in Seattle, Washington to learn about NET disease.  Attendees took part in over 20 sessions covering areas from NET patient diagnosis and treatment to NET research and supportive care. 

As NANETS' new Chair, I am excited for what the future holds for our organization and the strides we are making in the fight against neuroendocrine tumors.  This past symposium set a number of records:  110 abstract posters were presented from 11 countries.  Fifteen oral abstract presentations were made including three from ENETS (European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society) Young Investigators.

Dr. Robert Jensen Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

October 6, 2018, during the NANETS Annual Meeting and Recognition Luncheon, Chair Emeritus David Metz, MD, presented the NANETS Lifetime Achievement Award to Robert Jensen, MD.  Dr. Jensen was honored for his lifetime of work dedicated to NET diseases. He is currently the Gastrointestinal Cell Biology Section Chief of the Digestive Disease Branch at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Jensen earned his undergraduate degree from Washington State University in 1960 and his MD from the University of Chicago in 1964.
